in fact, there will be very few words. mike and i watched the ohio state vs penn state game tonight (that's a given of course, what else would we do on a saturday?) and one of the announcers had me laughing through most of the entire fourth quarter. my three favorite comments:
"well this has turned into a black out" -- the penn state student section followed the standard college custom of "coloring" out their opposing and better ranked team. ohio state sometimes does "red outs" or "white outs" and penn state almost regularly does a "white out" when they play ohio state at home. after our defense intercepted the ball and pulled ahead by a couple of touchdowns, the announcer made this comment. that started my giggling.
"this is becoming an unhappy valley" -- penn state is located in happy valley, pa. when the lions are losing, i guess the valley becomes a little less happy. i kept chuckling.
"that'll give tressel and the gang something to work on next week" -- our special teams gave up a 97-yard punt return for a touchdown with about 5 minutes to go in the game. the score at this point was something like 34-10 so it really didn't matter, and i was actually happy to see the valley get some of its happiness back. it's the 2nd touchdown our special teams has given up this year, which i guess is a big deal. the announcer made this comment almost in passing. it was late, so i laughed a little more.
to really understand why these comments were funny, you probably had to watch the game and actually hear them straight from the announcer. that guy made my night!
now it's time to crawl into our new bed for the night. we finally went out and purchased the bedding set off of our wedding registry. it's the fluffiest and most comfortable bed i've laid on in awhile and i'm anticipating a great night of rest. after a restless one last night, i'm definitely looking forward to cozying up for a solid 8 hours.
until next time ....

hope you slept well :-)
ReplyDeleteI took out my Penn State sweatshirt, but was too hot to wear it. I wonder if I would have worn it if they would have won?? I am happy for you, though. I just like changes in winners. This years NCAAF is crazy...Boston College is gunning for the #1 spot. Who'd have thought?
